Enjoy- and forgive yourself,

Renee Madison

The 4:8 principle book encourages the reader to think on things which Philippians 4:8 can change your thinking. Thinking positive versus negative so there will be fruit from thinking positive versus negative thinking.

The book has questions to make you think of your gifts, your uniqueness, your value. It is a Christian book so your value to God and his plan for your life comes into play.

It is easy for people to think negatively of themselves, there’s a lot of negative comparing, to see our faults instead of your accomplishments. When we are in the negative thinking we don’t live up to our potential. We look at all that we can’t do.

The author’s children hear every night words and verses that encourage the children, to live to their potential, to see themselves as a unique and wonderful gift of God. His hope that he gives his readers is that they too will live to their potential.

I, myself, think it is easier to look at the negative versus the positive, in the my faults versus the accomplishments. This has held me back in many ways. I give up when I fail, take a long time to catch hope again. I am trying to change that thinking and it is time to keep in mind the positive. And I want to teach my son to be able to think positively about himself and his potential dreams.

Short term goals, and long-term goals for each person are important. To accomplish big things, I am a firm believer of people being able to accomplish big things in their life. They can be thwarted their negative outlook on themselves that they received from others in their past.

In Longmont Colorado, Mr. Money Mustache lives and works. That is close to my home so I can was intrigued when I heard his ideas on living.

He worked as an engineer and saved at least half of his income so he could retire early. He is super frugal and lives off of 4% of his savings that are in an index fund.

When he goes on vacation he Airbnb his home, which helps to pay for his hotel and vacation.

He rides bikes around town instead of driving. He does have electric bikes so that helps.

He doesn’t watch television. He says that is a waste of a day and life.

He spends a lot of time with his pre-teen son.

He has a following of other like-minded early retirement hopefuls. They have conferences to learn from each other.

Every day millionaires was recently published. Some pretty good information about todays millionaires .He stated that there are over one million millionaires in the United States today. He interviewed 10,000 of those millionaires and his findings.  I’m really enjoy reading the book. The first compilation of millionaires was the by Thomas J. Stanley, The Millionaire Next Door which came out in the 1996.  With these books, I like to ask if it is possible for me to become a millionaire. What this book for was that these people work every day to save to get them to this millionaire status. These people didn’t have big sudden gains, they didn’t win lotteries, didn’t have big inventions;  they were just people that saved through with their companies 401(k) plans with other investments including IRAs.  They became millionaires after many years, saving and living within their means.  The average millionaire became that at age 49. Chris Hogan and his team found that 30% of those people are retired and the rest are still working,  the majority of them. The majority are employees not self employed.  They just were working, increasing their education to better do their jobs for 20 to 40 years.  Most live on a budget living, frugally not going into debt not having a mortgage. They paid off the mortgage and average in 10.2 years. With the living conservatively they became millionaires at age 49. With investments I found I compared myself to them but didn’t come out positively.  I have love more risky investments and thus lost more than they did.  They did boring investments which contributed to their wealth of in many years. They just continuing to add savings from every paycheck sometimes putting their whole bonus money into the investments. They normally paid for their children’s college as they feel that education was important.   The majority of these millionaires had bachelors degrees, with average GPA in B’s and C’s, so he said that you don’t have to be extra smart to do well. Most went to school without debt, working to go to school with cash. State schools were the norm. I sure wish that at 18, someone would have told me that 30 years without doing extra risky investments that down the road, if you do these things you will be a millionaire. I always thought that it was way out of my power even though I had read about putting  hundred dollars a month into mutual funds would get millionaire status at retirement. I am thankful for this book and others like it. Doing the right things  you will retire with from your investments. Thanks for reading,

“The mind controls all” says David Goggins.

So true!

By Chris Voss

“If, when I say to you, ‘You are not good enough,’ you do not have a strong reaction, a need to fight and argue with me or at least scoff at me and brush me aside, then there is a spell on you. And it is neutralizing your innate desire to stand up for yourself and become the person you were destined to be.

“If you can believe this, then you have taken the first step…and you will be able to take the second and the third. The second step is to interrupt the spell–to question or tune out society’s messages, as well as those in your mind, that make you question your strength. The third step is to start living your life by conscious control. In your adventure here, you will take these steps and we will help you.”

An interesting way to say that life and relationships can be hard on the self esteem!

“If you want to break Society’s Spell, you must mix a magic within you that can overpower it. That magic, which I am sure you have long forgotten to stir within your soul, is hope. You must flood your entire being with the hope that you can start anew, that there is more out there for you, that you can become the powerful person you were destined to become.”
